1911-D Indian Half Eagle

The 1911-D Indian Head Half Eagle is considered to be another key date of the series, but primarily so in higher grade levels.  The coin only carries a slight premium above other dates in low circulated grades, but in higher grades it emerges as one of the most expensive coins of the series.

A total of 72,500 pieces were struck for circulation, of which a few still remain in gem condition due to heavy circulation of the issue. Most examples encountered have been cleaned or damaged, and finding problem-free pieces in any condition can be a challenge. Because of the overall rarity of this issue, prices are choice examples are high and offerings at public auctions are seldom seen.
